three a week: "How hard can it be?"
http://www.3aweek.blogspot.com/2013/05/healthy-eating.html
Friday, May 31, 2013. How hard can it be? Quite difficult, it seems. Apparently even blogging about special baking projects was beyond me. (Doesn't help that I haven't really baked anything special since last August.) It's almost funny how breezy my tone was when I began this project. Kale and Quinoa Pilaf. I don't like pine nuts so I did without). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Marie callendar's lemon cheesecake pie. Korean mungbean jelly (muk). Slow cooker cooking: tuscan chicken and artichokes.
three a week: Banana chocolate chip muffins with chia seeds
http://www.3aweek.blogspot.com/2013/06/banana-chocolate-chip-muffins-with-chia.html
Thursday, June 27, 2013. Banana chocolate chip muffins with chia seeds. I have been on a health kick recently. But with 2 growing kids, and being the baker that I am, I couldn't completely cut out carbohydrates. Instead, I am trying to tweak classic recipes to be a bit more nutritious. Having our cake and eating it too, so to speak. I started with a straightforward recipe for banana chocolate chip bread, but made the following substitutions:. 3/4 cup wheat flour for 3/4 cup bleached all-purpose flour.
three a week: decadence
http://www.3aweek.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-meaning-of-decadance.html
Monday, August 13, 2012. Now I'm saving my energy for bigger projects for special occasions, such as the salted dark chocolate peanutbutter birthday cake above (yes, you read that right. A little slice goes a long way). And yes, the birthday boy has a thing for Star Wars. I won't reveal his age though :). Recipe adapted from Smitten Kitchen's infinitely more chic looking cake. I need more practice so my celebration cakes can look like that! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Korean mungbean jelly (muk).
three a week: snow pea tips
http://www.3aweek.blogspot.com/2012/03/snow-pea-tips.html
Friday, March 2, 2012. One of my favorite "off-the-menu" dishes to order at a Chinese restaurant is snow pea tips, the tendrils of the pea vine. Tender and delicate, they taste like the embodiment of Spring. Although not many Chinese restaurants list it on the menu, they almost always have it if you ask. My theory is that they keep it in the kitchen for the staff meal or for discerning customers like myself! The dish was on the table in 10 minutes. Another reason to love Chinese food. Cavatappi with lemo...
three a week: My favorite chocolate cake
http://www.3aweek.blogspot.com/2013/06/my-favorite-chocolate-cake.html
Monday, June 17, 2013. My favorite chocolate cake. I found this recipe for Beatty's chocolate cake a few years ago and it has changed my life. An amazingly simple recipe for chocolate cake that manages to be both light and decadent at the same time. I've used it to make cupcakes for the kids' birthday parties, and am now working on making layer cakes. Combined with tangy cream cheese frosting, this cake was a hit for Father's Day yesterday. An easy layer cake? Fluffy Cream Cheese Frosting.

The Bun Blog: recital #2!
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/recital-2.html
9 months in the oven. Friday, January 31, 2014. Lila performed at her second piano recital in January. She was a pro - perhaps a bit nervous but very calm. She played "This Land is Your Land." She worked hard on practicing for the recital and rocked it! Check out my food blog! Holiday fun with little pals.
The Bun Blog: October 2013
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
9 months in the oven. Saturday, October 12, 2013. Autumn in the country. One of the things I miss most about living on the east coast is Fall. This weekend we struck out to seek crisp blue skies, colorful foliage, and autumn sun, and found them an hour north of San Francisco in Sebastopol. Lila and Arjun got to pluck apples from dwarf apple trees and try the locally made applesauce. Their favorite part was probably climbing on the John Deere tractor! Tuesday, October 8, 2013. Fall in san francisco.
The Bun Blog: 36!
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2014/11/36.html
9 months in the oven. Thursday, June 5, 2014. I sort of freaked out over turning 35 but decided I wasn't going to make a big deal out of turning 36. Lucky me, I ended up getting to celebrate with lots of friends and lots of cake anyway! Coincidentally N and I were to be in Mexico for a friend's wedding on my birthday weekend, so we stole away for a yummy meal to celebrate on our own. I'm feeling good about this beginning to my late 30's! Check out my food blog!
The Bun Blog: September 2013
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
9 months in the oven. Thursday, September 26, 2013. We've had a very busy September! Lila started Kindergarten in late August and has been thriving. Sometimes we look at her babbling away, and wonder at her independence and maturity. Her school is an open, welcoming community, and she loves going to school to see her friends every day. We couldn't be happier with her transition. Arjun's first day of PreK. Lila's first day of Kindergarten. Thursday, September 12, 2013. Cafe break in Lisbon.
The Bun Blog: skiing
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2014/01/skiing.html
9 months in the oven. Sunday, January 26, 2014. Although we prefer sun over snow, we try to hit the slopes at least once each year to expose the buns to skiing, which is a big recreational sport in the Bay Area. Now that the kids are able to go out to classes on their own, I try to stay inside with a nice warm cup of tea! We took a quick MLK weekend trip up to Tahoe and stomped around the snow a bit. Lila's really getting the hang of it! Check out my food blog! Holiday fun with little pals.
The Bun Blog: fun with arjun
http://thebunblog.blogspot.com/2014/02/fun-with-arjun.html
9 months in the oven. Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Now that Lila is in kindergarten and busy with her own schedule, Arjun and I have had a lot of time to just hang out. He's growing into a funny and creative little dude with lots of (adamantly argued) opinions! I love being surprised by how he views the world and by what he can build out of legos or magnet tiles. The other day I handed my iphone to him and his portrait of me is probably my favorite one of the year! Check out my food blog!

Second christmas at dadima and dada's. New years brunch with john, sophie, pingyu, barbara, jeff, jen, lila, and jason. Check out my food blog! Holiday fun with little pals.

three a week
Monday, July 1, 2013. Carrot pineapple muffins with chia seed topping. I've been testing recipes for healthy on-the-go breakfasts, and this one is a winner! The final product was moist and lightly sweet, with a crunch from the chia seeds on top. Mom-tested, kid-approved! I used the recipe below, with the following substitutions:. 1 cup coconut sugar (rather than 1 cup refined sugar). 1/3 cup nonfat plain yogurt 1/3 cup vegetable oil (rather than 2/3 cup vegetable oil). 1/2 cup chia seeds, sprinkled on top.

A Day in the Life
A Day in the Life. Our Wonderful, Wild, Crazy, Beautiful Family! Friday, March 13, 2009. The blog is moving! I am still working on the site, and hope to have updates in the next couple of days! Monday, January 12, 2009. Jackson attends a German Kindergarten, which is like preschool in the states. He really loves it for the most part, but refuses to speak any German. His teacher told me he does understand what she is saying to him in German now, but will answer only in English. Monday, December 29, 2008.

Three Awesome Things a Day. A blog about the little things. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Today’s three awesome things (02/20/15):. February 20, 2015. 1 I was apprehensive about the gym moving to an older building, but now I actually like how it’s a little “old school”. It’s sort of nice and makes me thing of old sports movies. 2 I took the dog on a nice, long walk and brought a tasty pear for a snack. The air is less winter-y now somehow. What three things helped you adjust today?
