Goodbye and hello, as always: September 2008

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. This is what we have to look forward to? Is it odd to be more excited about the presidential primaries than the general election? During the primaries, I tracked the news closely and followed the debates like boxing matches. With the candidates selected I find myself far less enthusiastic. Like Paul Newman’s Butch Cassidy, I find myself asking, “Who are these guys? I don’t see how. I finished Year Million.

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. An update on social networking futility. About a year ago, I posted. In addition to these “Join me on [community name]! 8220;The past few months have been a tremendously challenging time. Like many of you, I’ve recently had to readjust my priorities and my approach to success.”. Translation: “I’ve lost my job.”. The “Update” continues with more Tony Robbins-esque euphemisms, such as:. Translation: “...

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. Tis the season. for the chiropractor. It’s been a week of sore muscles. Well, it’s also been a week of celebration, gratitude, generosity, family fun and good food. But the sore muscles really do stand out. First, the hit to the pocketbook as well as the back: On Monday, we joined the 23% of Americans purchasing televisions this season. If programming languages were religions. Much to the iPod's Delight.

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. Tonight we fired up the charcoal grill to cook ribs, the first time in a long while. Ribs is the journeyman dish of barbecue; just enough challenge to be rewarding, but not so difficult that you need professional training to get it right. It's also time-consuming, but well worth it. What's so great about the Weber? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). McLeans (apparently still in the '90s). Sun at Six Windows.

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. The sky is not falling. Peggy Noonan’s universe is coming to an end. . Well, that’s what we’re led to believe if we take her latest WSJ column. At face value. . The column is 1200 words of anecdotes from people she knows, in and out of the halls of power in New York and Washington, telling her that Something is Wrong. . It feels like 1930. I respectfully disagree. . 401K matches being suspended!

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. More on Oil Prices. I referred to a WSJ article. Today I offer a link to an article in contrast to the WSJ link I put up last June: The Motley Fool. Too bad it won’t last. As for me, I’m planning on making it to 2011 in my current commute pattern. By then the local transit authority is planning on opening a light rail line on our side of the valley, and I can afford to drive the 3 miles to the ...Some ob...

Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. If all this makes any of you prospective parents lose your appetite, take heart; it seems that as a parent, one is able to build an immunity to this (among many other things) over time. Speaking of which, I'm off. I know it’s a golden delicious because of the friendly sticker. . And I’m wondering, who gets away with categorizing an entire fruit type as “delicious” anyway? One bad apple (ha, ha! You shou...

Goodbye and hello, as always: The absurdity of Best/Worst lists
http://goodbyeandhelloasalways.blogspot.com/2009/01/absurdity-of-bestworst-lists.html
Goodbye and hello, as always. Dave's take on everything from recent reads to technology and business. The absurdity of Best/Worst lists. Take, for instance, an article in today’s WSJ. I’m just sayin’. Best jobs for whom? I can already see the improvement since the Journal joined the News Corp fold. I wonder where "official consumer of raisins and crackers" fell on the job list? January 6, 2009 at 3:55 PM. You can put me in that same description with dad - my favorite classes at BYU were my math classes -...
